Speaking of what the world needs right now - a vampire movie! That's right; don't let anyone ever say Hollywood doesn't take chances. Here we have a vampire movie unlike well actually, no, it's a remake. And although it's a pretty good one, it's still just another vampire movie in 2011.
This time it's set in Vegas, where it's not uncommon for people to only be awake at night. But soon young high school student Anton Yelchin notices his friends start to go missing. Turns out yeah, it's a vampire. There is also some high school drama with nerdy friend/vampire hunter Christopher Mintz-Plasse, a hot girlfriend Imogen Poots, and David Tennant as a pretty good Vegas magician.
But the best part of the movie was when someone's phone rang in the theatre actually, no it wasn't that the phone rang, or that the person actually answered the phone. No, it was that about 30 seconds or so into the conversation you hear, "I'm just at the theatre watching a movie Fright Night yeah it's OK." Ha! Sure, it's OK, but apparently not good enough not to answer a casual phone call. For a second it was annoying, but it happened at a slow time so it was actually pretty damn funny.
In the end this movie has a pretty good self-aware style, which will be good enough entertainment for many people. You know who you are and you should go out and enjoy this while remembering, of course, to turn off your phone.
