Artists are usually reclusive creatures, Thor Froslev agrees, but when it comes to the Brackendale Art Gallery, they pop out of hiding.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, West Coast impressionist landscape painter David Low will be on the gallery's stage, accompanied by blues grass roots musician John Jenkins. Jenkins' Smalltown Revival will fill the night with roots and blues, while Low paints.
Both artists are from Golden, and the combination gives audience members a chance to feast their senses, Froslev said. It also places artists at the forefront, rather than leaving them tucked away in their studios, he noted.
"This is a pretty cool place, so they get pretty relaxed," said Froslev, Brackendale Art Gallery owner.
Low lives on a 30-acre farm in the town just west of the Rocky Mountains. Frovslev said he has known Low for 45 years and seen his artwork progress. Low moved to Golden in 1997. Influenced by the surrounding mountains, glaciers and wetlands, Low paints oils in a variety of sizes.
The John Jenkins Smalltown Revival band includes a guitar, harmonica, foot percussion, keys, bass and violin, and dub their sound "mountain folk."
The event gets underway at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $15. They are available at the door or at Xocolatl Chocolate Creations at 38020 Cleveland Ave. For more information visit www.brackendaleartgallery.com.
"It is going to be a pretty exciting evening," Froslev said.
