Running time: 117 minutes
Really? Is this really what the world needs right now? Well that is a stupid question, of course not. The world needs an A-Team remake as much as it needs a Karate Kid remake. But we're living in a very stupid world and as such this is exactly what we get.
This coming from a bonified fan of the original series. Just like every other 14 year old boy in the 80s, we counted down the days until we could watch the A-team (to a lesser extent this included Knight Rider, Magnum PI and Simon and Simon. Lord help us, we're probably going to have to sit through every one of those being remade as well).
Actually, this movie shouldn't be considered a remake so much as it is a tribute. In the first 20 minutes it's just one tip of the hat to the old series after another. The entire movie does not take itself too seriously as everyone smiles and goofs around the whole time. As such, I found it very hard to sit through the entire film.
Liam Neeson is a fine Hannibal and Bradley Cooper as Face is good too; however, Murdock is nothing without his bitchin' brown bomber jacket. And I pity the fool that has to try to play BA Baracas. I mean, come on, how can you possibly try to be Mr. T? You simply can't although Quinton "Rampage" Jackson" does a passable job of an impossible task.
But what do I know, let's see what Mr. T thinks of it: "It was too graphic for me. I've no doubt it will do big business at the box office but it's nothing like the show we turned out every week."
Ok, I'm not sure what movie he was watching, but this was pretty much exactly like the TV show. Lots and lots of bloodless violence and stuff blowing up good with bad guys getting theirs in the end.
Personally I can't recommend this to anyone. You're better off closing your eyes and remembering the good ol days of being a kid when there were only only 13 channels on TV. Good luck with that.
