Squamish RCMP are investigating a Squamish man for allegations of sexually touching a child and charges may soon be laid.
Cpl. Dave Ritchie of the RCMP confirmed that a police investigation is under way.
"We are actively investigating a sexual assault allegation," Ritchie said Wednesday (July 14).
According to Ritchie, a report was filed to Crown counsel and government attorneys are reviewing the file to determine whether or not a charge or charges will be laid.
There is no indication of how long Crown counsel will take to make a decision.
"I can assure you that Crown is looking at it right now," said Ritchie, adding that he could not say anything further.
The name and age of the man was not released by police.
The Chief has learned that the man accused in the matter resigned from his job at the beginning of this week.
