The U14 Squamish boys soccer rep teamhas capped off the 2006/07 season with an outstanding victory.

The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association Cup 29th Annual Rep Tournament lured the boys out of the Squamish rain during the May long weekend for the popular tournament, which attracts teams from as far away as Calgary.

The competition began Saturday when Squamish United triumphed over their Pemberton neighbours in a fun match.Chad Pereira, Harrison Shrimpton, Cameron Ellis, Jagdeep Tatla, Karl Bhandalall managed to find the goalnet, scoring one a piece.Alec McRae as goalkeeper enjoyed a shutout leading the team to a 5-0 win.

Prince George then challenged the boys to a hard played game Sunday morning under partially gray skies and drizzle.

Squamish United was offto a slow start but stealthfully gained momentum in the second half of the game.

Ellis played aggressively breaking through Prince George's tough defence squad finding the net twice during the game with the help of Bhandal and the midfielders.

The third goal was nicely played in by Peirerra.Cam Baker fed the ball to the forwards every chance he got and Taran Bir and Jatinder Tehara weretenaciousmidfielders.

A team effortfinished the job resulting in a 3-1 win for Squamish. The team's 4 p.m. game was played under sunny skies against Nelson, and the 3-1 score again seemed to be the flavour of the day with Baker, Shrimpton and Pereira putting the ball into the net for the win.Corey White passed a beautiful through ball to Pereira enabling him to score with quick shot to the net.A rematch for the U14 tournament title was played Monday at 9 a.m.Nelson would again challenge Squamish but this time for the tournament trophy.

The weather co-operated delivering partially blue skies, and McArthur Park was a choice area to claim victory at the final game.

The Nelson team pushed Squamish hard trying to reclaim a win over Sunday's defeat.

But Squamish hung on claiming the only goal of the game when White's shot found it's way into the net as the Nelson keeper who appeared to have a grip on the ball, lost it as he was distracted by an injured player on the field. The ball trickled in and Squamish was elated at the goal but saddened by the obvious error. The Nelson goalkeeper had played a great game with many good saves throughout.Squamish won the game 1-0 and the tournament ended with the sportsmanlike Nelson team grouping together for a match photo.

The team worked well together with every line contributing to their success.

A great tournament experience andvictory for the U14 Boys Squamish United.
