CALGARY 鈥� A Calgary police officer has been charged with assault almost a year after a man was shot twice with a stun gun.
Police say officers were responding to a call in the city's southwest in January when one officer trying to enter a home used his conducted energy weapon on a man.
Police allege the officer used force that was not reasonable or proportional given the circumstances.
The officer was suspended in February while the police service's professional standards section investigated.
The investigation included a review of body-worn-camera footage.
Const. Nickolas Kerton, a two-year member of the service, has been charged with assault with a weapon and is to appear in court in January.
