СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Ferries’ online booking system crashed Monday morning just after the province announced that residents would be allowed to travel within СÀ¶ÊÓƵ again.
The crash, caused by a high volume of visitors, came moments after СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Ferries’ President Mark Collins said in a news release that crews were ready to welcome back recreational travellers on all routes and the corporation would be adding sailings to ensure “we have the capacity to meet the anticipated demand.”
At 1:30 p.m., СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Ferries said: “Our website is currently experiencing technical difficulties and we are working hard to restore its service as soon as possible,” thanking the public for its patience.
СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Ferries’ said customers will no longer be asked whether their trip is essential and masks outdoors at terminals will be optional.
However, masks will still be required on board vessels, as per Transport Canada regulations.
