Judge denies bid to toss Ibrahim Ali murder verdict for court delays

Ibrahim Ali awaits sentencing for first-degree murder in the death of a 13-year-old Burnaby girl now that a bid to have his guilty verdict thrown out for delays has been dismissed.

A bid to have a man found guilty of sexually assaulting and strangling a 13-year-old Burnaby girl set free because of court delays has been denied.

小蓝视频 Supreme Court Justice Lance Bernard gave his decision from the bench Thursday morning, saying his reasons would follow at a later date.

Ali's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, when dates will be set for his sentencing.

A in December of first-degree murder in the death of the girl, whose body was found in Burnaby's Central Park on July 18, 2017.

The girl's name is protected by a publication ban.

Ali's to have his conviction thrown out because of court delays.
