A parked Jazz Air Canada Express plane scheduled for a trip to Nanaimo was delayed several hours on Sunday afternoon when another plane “made contact” with it at Vancouver International Airport.
Air Canada said the two planes were an Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 going to Quebec and a Jazz Air Canada Express Q400 going to Nanaimo.
“While being pushed back from the gate, the Rouge plane’s wingtip made contact with that of the Q400, which was parked at a nearby gate,” the airline said in a statement. No one was injured, the airline said.
Customers on both flights were able to travel to their destinations on other aircraft.
A Q400 typically seats about 75 passengers, and the Airbus A319 between 120 and 156 passengers.
Air Canada did not immediately respond to a question about the extent of damage.
According to the Air Canada flight tracker, Sunday’s flight AC 8031 arrived at Nanaimo Airport at about 5:30 p.m., three hours later than scheduled.
