A Prince George man charged after the 2013 death of his wife has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Paul Tamasi pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter February 5 in Grande Prairie Court of King’s Bench.
He was charged after the disappearance and death of Karen Jordan in November 2013.
Evidence gathered by police in the Alberta city, 535 kilometres northeast of Prince George, suggests Jordan was last seen with Tamasi in November 2013. Jordan, 47, was first reported missing in February 2016.
She had not been in touch with her family for five years.
Her body was found September 2020 after ground searches were conducted near Wembley, Alta., by investigators and members of the Alberta RCMP Special Tactical Operations Team, assisted by local Search and Rescue personnel.
The discovery of Jordan’s remains culminated a multi-year investigation by police from the Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigations Section and Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch.
Tamasi, 57, was arrested by Grande Prairie RCMP in 2021. He was living in Prince George at the time of his arrest. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 11 to 15.
