Surrey RCMP are, for the second time in two days, investigating shots fired at a business located in the 8100-block of 128 Street early Nov. 23.

Police attended the Newton scene and located evidence consistent with a shooting. The business was closed at the time and no injuries were reported.

Police said initial information indicates it was a targeted incident.

"Anytime someone discharges a firearm, there is a risk to the public; however, this incident occurred when the business was closed and no injuries were reported," RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Vanessa Munn told Glacier Media.

But, police said, there is no evidence to linking it to the robbery that occurred in the same area on the morning of Nov. 22.

In that case, one person went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrived within minutes of the call, and additional officers began making patrols in surrounding areas.

No suspects were located. Based on the initial information, police believe the suspects fled in a dark-coloured pickup truck.

The investigation is in the early stages and police are working to obtain witness statements as well as video surveillance from the area.

“We are aware that two recent incidents within the same complex raises concerns in our community,” Munn said.

“Our South Community Response Unit has been engaged, will be increasing patrols in the area as well as meeting with local businesses to discuss their concerns,” she added.
