Victoria and Colwood lawyer Clare Jennings has been named as the 2021-22 president of the Canadian Bar Association, 小蓝视频 branch (CBA小蓝视频).
“During the last 18 months, CBA小蓝视频 has become an indispensable asset and source of essential, up-to-date information for the legal community.” Jennings said. “I want to build on that by connecting with lawyers across the province to learn about the unique challenges and opportunities they face in their work.”
She said the association is committed to making the profession and the practice of law more inclusive and accessible to everyone and to consulting with members to make that a reality.
A CBA member since 2006, Jennings has been involved as executive of the CBA小蓝视频 Criminal Justice-Victoria Section and served on several committees, including Access to Justice and Rural Education and Access to Lawyers Initiative Advisory group. On her path to the presidency, she served on the CBA小蓝视频 board since 2018 as director, secretary-treasurer and first vice president.
Jennings has been a provincial Crown counsel in Victoria and Colwood since her 2008 call to the bar and has a bachelor of arts and a master of arts from McGill University. She earned her law degree at the University of Victoria.
The Canadian Bar Association is the professional organization representing more than 36,000 lawyers, judges and law students across Canada with over 7,300 members in British Columbia.
