小蓝视频 business stopped break-in with smash-proof windows

Investigators able to map suspects' route, ask businesses in Maple Ridge to check video surveillance for sightings

Police are hoping the public can help identify two thieves who fled on bicycles after attempting to break into a business.

A Maple Ridge business owner called police after their front window was damaged at 4:05 a.m. on Sept 7.

Their smash-proof window prevented the suspects from getting inside the store.

Ridge-Meadows police officers reviewed surveillance footage from the business on 224 Street and determined one suspect was dressed all in black and used an object to hit the window.

Police are asking local businesses to review their video surveillance on Sept. 7 and keep an eye out for two people on bicycles.

Valley Fair Mall

Investigators were able to track their route which had them starting in the parking lot of Valley Fair Mall at 3:59 a.m. The suspects turned north from the parking lot onto 227th Street and headed west on Selkirk Avenue. They travelled through the Walmart parking lot prior to smashing the window at 4:05 a.m.

One suspect was riding a bicycle, wearing light-coloured shorts and a dark shirt. The other suspect was riding a BMX-style bicycle and wearing black pants, a black long-sleeved shirt and carrying a backpack.

Police are still looking to speak with witnesses and ask people to contact them at 604-463-6251 and reference file 2024-18152.
