Tenzin Choigey will return to court on Dec. 20, 2024.

A man charged with second-degree murder in the Nov. 22 death of a Vancouver woman will return to court on Dec. 20 as the Crown continues to disclose case information to the defence.

Tenzin Choigey faces charges of murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 26-year-old Roshnee Gurung.

Choigey appeared before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge James Sutherland on Nov. 26.

Crown prosecutor Jenny Macheck told Sutherland Choigey is a foreign national from Bhutan who may need an interpreter for the case.

She said the Crown has given all evidence disclosure it has been able to give so far to defence lawyer Jim Heller. She said further disclosure would be expedited as much as possible.

On Nov. 23, the Vancouver Police Department said it was investigating what they described as a homicide that took place overnight at a home in an area near Rupert Street and Euclid Avenue in East Vancouver.

Police said a woman was found dead at the scene, while an injured victim was taken to hospital.

Police said the 27-year-old male victim suffered serious injuries in the attack, resulting in the aggravated assault charge.
