A fire department in 小蓝视频 won’t be able to hold its annual Halloween fireworks show this year.
Cache Creek Fire Department members announced on social media last week that they won’t be able to do the event in 2024.
“Unfortunately, due to high increase in costs, the fire department will not be able to put on the Halloween fireworks show the year,” says Fire Chief Tom Moe.
People were quick to respond trying to figure out how to help.
“What can we as a community do to help?” said Janet Appleby.
Another person asked how much money needed to be raised and if sponsors could help with the costs.
The fire department says they’ve been spending $5,000 a year for the Halloween show, most from donations but some from their association. In the last two years, the price of fireworks has gone up by 30 per cent.
“It’s definitely disappointing,” says Moe. "We've been doing fireworks for over 15 years and we get spectators from all over."
Each year, the fire department also puts on an Easter egg hunt for the community and a Canada Day event.
"A lot of people have offered to help us raise funds for next year,” he says.
At this point, he says it’s too late to get an order in for fireworks this year, even if enough funds were raised.
“This has garnered a lot of interest, so hopefully we can have a show next year,” he says.
