The stunning Sea to Sky Highway can also be dangerous, say Squamish RCMP.

In the lead-up to the 小蓝视频 Day long weekend, the Squamish RCMP is offering driving information and tips, so this weekend creates happy memories rather than tragic ones.

  1. Distracted driving and inattention is a top contributing factor to motor vehicle crashes, along with drug or alcohol affected driving, and speeding;
  2. Speeding continues to be the number one contributing factor for fatalities, more than distracted or impaired driving. The faster you go, the longer it takes to stop — and the more dangerous a crash can be. Slow down;
  3. It is important to remember not all drivers share the same experience or skills. Some drivers may be more comfortable travelling at less than the speed posted on the variable speed sign during inclement weather;
  4. Impaired driving remains a leading criminal cause of death in Canada. Driving after using drugs, even prescription drugs, is just as dangerous as drinking and driving;
  5. Wearing your seatbelt is one of the best ways to protect yourself from being injured or even killed in a crash;
  6. Don’t count on others to obey the road rules or make allowances for you.
