Police in Pemberton are looking for witnesses to what they're calling a "suspicious fire" at Signal Hill Elementary School earlier this month.

According to a release, Sea to Sky Pemberton RCMP attended the school in the early morning hours of July 4, and learned of a fire that appeared to have been deliberately set. The Pemberton Fire Rescue Department was already on scene, and had extinguished the fire, the release said.

“Police are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Signal Hill Elementary School between the late evening of July 3 and the early morning of July 4, that could provide information to assist police in their investigation,” said Cst. Katrina Boehmer, media relations officer for Sea to Sky Pemberton RCMP.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sea to Sky RCMP Pemberton detachment at 604-894-6634 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or solvecrime.ca.
