Squamish police briefs for Oct. 19 to 25

Speeding. Stolen laptop. Missing cash. Fireworks.

Here are the Squamish RCMP briefs for Oct. 19 to 25.

Speeding

A car was impounded for a week after an officer ticketed a speeding driver.

Police say the car was travelling north on Highway 99 at about 115 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Oct. 19.

Stolen laptop

Thieves broke into a home and stole an $1,800 gold trim HP Spectre laptop.

Police say the theft took place on Oct,. 24 between 10 a.m and 11 a.m. on the 38000-block of Second Ave.

Missing cash

A cash box with $30 was swiped from a business following a break-in.

Police say the incident happened on Oct. 21, at about 4 a.m., on the 1200-block of Commercial Way.

Fireworks

Officers say they’ve received two reports of people lighting fireworks in town over the past week.

RCMP are reminding people that people may only use fireworks with a permit on Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Residents must apply to the District for a permit..
