It was a busy day on the Squamish Spit Aug. 21, for the 's Spit Appreciation Day.
The day included a sandcastle competition, food served by the and, of course, some kiting demos.
"Our goal is to raise awareness in the community about what they're going to lose," said Nikki Layton, president of Squamish Windsports Society before the event, referring to the dismantling of the Spit (training berm) as part of the , which set to begin this fall.
