Metro Vancouverites hoping for a milder start to fall might find things a tad chilly this month.
The Weather Network has released an October weather for Canada that outlines an overall warmer trend for the country. However, the west coast may see colder temperatures than usual.
While most of Canada saw above-average temperatures in September, report authors note that "only parts of 小蓝视频, the Yukon and Nunavut were colder than normal."
The cooler weather trend is forecast to continue through October in 小蓝视频 and the Yukon. "This is the one part of Canada where we do not expect above-normal temperatures during October."
Some "mild and pleasant" days can still take place over the coming month but the overall trend will include near-normal or below-normal temperatures. Additionally, an active Pacific jet stream will bring above-average precipitation, which includes abundant snowfall.
This winter La Niña could also impact temperatures in the Lower Mainland region, as well as the amount of snow. Currently, weather models are indicating that there is a "medium" chance of a weak La Niña this winter but that its effects won't show until December.
