A 40-year-old man found unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with drug paraphernalia in his lap turned out to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
West Shore RCMP also found drugs in the vehicle, including about 12 ounces of what is thought to be cocaine, about six ounces of suspected fentanyl, about three ounces of suspected methamphetamine and about one-quarter litre of GHB.
Police were called about 11 a.m. Saturday after the man was spotted in a Dodge Ram pickup on Deville Road, near the intersection of Jacklin Road and Brock Avenue.
He showed signs of drug impairment when officers woke him up.
A drug-trafficking investigation is ongoing and police will be forwarding a report to Crown Counsel for consideration of criminal charges.
The suspect has been transferred back into the custody of Correctional Services Canada.
