Major crime detectives are investigating after a woman allegedly jumped out of a stranger’s truck and ran for help in Abbotsford.
At 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, Abbotsford police officers were called about a woman screaming for help in the 32300-block of Huntingdon Road.
Police found the woman and she told police she was waiting on Peardonville Road when an unknown man offered to drive her home in his truck earlier in the evening.
"The female and the man were not related to each other,” says Sgt. Paul Walker. "During the drive, the man began making unwanted advances towards her.”
The man pulled his truck over near Huntingdon Road and Columbia Street and the woman got out of the truck and fled on foot for help. She made her way to a residence and asked someone to call police.
Walker said the woman, in her 30s, was extremely shaken up, but not physically injured.
"The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation,” says Walker.
Police are looking for the man, who is in his late 50s to 60s, with short, salt and pepper hair and wearing a blue and black plaid jacket. The man was driving a smaller grey or silver truck.
Anyone who has dash camera footage or saw the incident at Huntingdon Road and Columbia Street between 2:30 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. is asked to call police at 604-859-5225.
