What kid — of any age — doesn’t want to ride a little train?
Squamish Lions Club member Gary Shortt spearheaded a project to refurbish the “Malcolm” mini-rail train at the Railway Museum of British Columbia.
According to fellow Lion Nelson Winterburn, the late Lion Malcolm McEwen built the original train in 2005 and completed a major refurbishment in 2014.
The train was brought back into service with a ribbon cutting on Sunday, May 14.
The ribbon was cut by Malcolm's niece, Michelle McEwen.
“Children visiting the Railway Museum can once again ‘drive’ the train and enjoy the romance of train travel,” Winterburn said.
The 20-minute ride around the park covers over two kilometres of track and takes riders from one end of the grounds to the other.
