He had a brief stay at Sea to Sky Community Hospice, where he received above and beyond care, specifically by Dr. Peter Bull, "Pip," the "Amys," and Dr. Millar. His childhood doctor, Dr. Jim Jamieson stayed along his side until his death.
He referred to the nurses at both Squamish General Hospital and Lions Gate Hospital as angels, specifically Rosy, Haroku and Grace. He wanted to thank all the Shoppers Drug Mart staff for all their compassion and help through his illness.
The Squamish community, near, far and new held all his family up to allow them to remain by his side through his entire journey.
Survived by and lovingly remembered by his soul mate and partner, Jagger Buchner.
Clinton was also survived by, Father, Robert Iain Shard, Mother, Wendy May Shard, brother Curtis Stephen William Shard, and family pet, Wilson.
Born on March 11, 1993, at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, and in 1996 the family found roots in Squamish.
At age 12, he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and while learning and successfully managing the disease, he continued an ongoing effort to raise awareness about the illness, which included two expeditions to Mt. Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp through No Guts Know Glory with Rob Hill.
After high school, he moved away from Squamish, graduated from university, and worked for a pharmaceutical company, a job, that took him across Canada and Europe. He stayed in close contact with his first boss Eric Grossat where both became close friends even though both lived on different sides of the continents.
One of Clinton's favourite hikes was with Eric Hoffmeister up Mt. Robson, 小蓝视频
This is where they hatched a plan to buy a bus and travel all over Europe. Instagram @2boys1bus was formed, and they travelled to Turkey, Germany, the Swiss Alps, Spain, and Italy, to name a few.
In July 2021, he took on a solo hike up Mt. Garibaldi, where his brother Curtis graciously waited until he returned to tell his mom there was a cougar in the area. During his time visiting or living in Squamish, he could be found regularly climbing all three peaks of the Stawamus Chief, in one day.
In the last year of his life, he chose to come back home to Squamish and pursue his passion of starting his own business, beadwork and drawing. His work at the Adventure Centre fed his soul by showing others the beautiful scenery and adventures in Squamish. His partner, Jagger Buchner, and his childhood friends remained by his side up until his death, Brianna Ross, Sammy Butts, Caila Martin, Hayley Goodgrove, and Nico Harvey, along with their expanding group, Tim Torres, Ray Grieves and Pardis Daneshayer.
