It is sort of like a Squamish version of the C小蓝视频 show Dragons' Den — where entrepreneurs compete for investment — only less stressful. The Squamish Youth Council has launched the Bear's Den, which offers Squamish-based not-for-profits the opportunity to apply for a $10,000 grant to put toward programs or events that benefit youth.
The council is made up of about 17 local youth aged 14 to 24. who meet monthly to work on issues related to young people in town.
The funds for the Bear's Den come from the youth council's District budget.
Some of the rules for the grant include that this is for groups and organizations — not individuals — that are Squamish based.
It is suggested that applicants submit a 45-to-60-second video introducing what they want to do with the funds and why they are so excited about it
The money is for a new initiative, not something ongoing.
Winners must be able to make a post-project presentation to the Youth Council in November of this year.
Non-profits can apply now. The application deadline is Feb. 16.
