Piebald means having irregular patches of two colours. 

Called leucism in animals, this genetic mutation leads to reduced pigmentation. 

According to an article by  in the birding and gardening magazine Birds & Blooms, it is seen more in robins than in other birds. However, it is still relatively rare, occurring in about one out of 30,000 robins.
