Cure for Love goes inside the unusual Christian subculture and follows the lives of several young people whose homosexuality is at odds with their religious beliefs to fashion a nuanced critique of 21st century fundamentalism through their moving testimony.
Jonathan, a soft-spoken young Texan, was driven into an ex-gay "ministry" by crippling self-loathing, but now embraces a Christianity that leaves room for a loving gay relationship.
Darren, another refugee, looks back at the ex-gay experience with mixed feelings and wry humour, saying "Oh I've been saved several times!"
