Everything considered, You Again should have been a hit.
Here you have an all-star chick flick cast in a movie about a very hot topic: bullying.
Instead of a hit, however, we have a complete waste of time that, judging by the opening week numbers, no one saw and this is probably for the best.
While there is some serious bullying going on in the world and in our community, this rom-com chooses to use it as a comedic device (and fails).
The entire plot is frankly asinine as Kristen Bell plays the nerd girl who was tortured by the popular manipulative bitch in high school.
This bully is now going to marry the nerd's brother and she's pretending not to know her. You figure a line that flimsy would collapse in the first scene wouldn't you? Yeah well, you would be wrong.
I kept waiting for something interesting to happen but instead it was just bad piled on worse, and then Betty White showed up.
I do have a soft spot for that particular Golden Girl and held out, hoping it was going to get better. And it did, but only because I spent a few nice moments fantasizing that Betty would pull out a straight blade and slaughter the entire cast Dexter-style.
Not surprisingly, that didn't happen and the story continued on its hackneyed path straight to the obvious end.
Perhaps the most amazing thing about this film is the fact that someone was able to write a script that Betty White, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver could not save.
We can only hope the writers were punished appropriately by being forced to watch this movie every day until the day they die.
