Two СƵ-based singer-songwriters are preparing to present a musical ode to Canadian icon Leonard Cohen this weekend in Squamish.
Tower of Song: A Creative Tribute to the Music of Leonard Cohen, features Glenna Garramone and Oliver Swain in a night of both rare and classic selections from Cohen, along with a few of the artists’ own works, on Saturday (May 10) at 8 p.m. at the Brackendale Art Gallery (BAG).
Along with special guest Corbin Keep on cello, Swain and Garramone will provide their own interpretations of Cohen’s timeless songs, arranged for two voices along with banjo, string bass, piano and guitar.
“Together, Swain and Garramone have crafted arrangements that will satiate and astonish the Cohen fan in everyone,” organizers said. The two are touring Western Canada in support of their debut album, In City and In Forest, produced by Juno-nominated Joby Baker.
Tickets are $20 and are available at the BAG or at Xocolatl.
