Comedy coming to The Ledge

Decker, Dyer to headline CVWS fundraising event

The Ledge will be the scene of a lot of laughs on Friday (Nov. 8).

The first-ever comedy night at the caf茅 will feature Vancouver comedian Ivan Decker along with local talent Kelly Dyer. It's the second appearance in Squamish for Decker, after a successful debut at The Living Room back in August.

Event organizer Natasha Heslop said Decker will have them rolling in the aisles.

"He's so funny and is super professional without getting crude," she said. "He analyzes everyday situations in a funny way and is just really talented and entertaining."

The event is the fifth annual fundraiser for the Cedar Valley Waldorf School (CVWS) in Squamish and Heslop said she thinks The Ledge should be the perfect venue.

"We wanted to switch it up a bit this year and explore a new venue in town," she said. "It looks like they have good acoustics, they have a great stage and it should be a great venue for us."

After the comedy show there will be a dance party hosted by Squamish based DJ Just Sheila.

Heslop said she's also excited about the event's silent auction, which features a number of unique items, including an annual pass to the Sea to Sky Gondola - the first time a pass like this has been made available.

Tickets are $35 and are only available at Billie's Flower House. The doors open for the event at 7:30 p.m., with the comedians hitting the stage between 9 and 9:30 p.m.

"I think the nice thing for us this year is the venue," Heslop said. "It's going to be tight and intimate and it's really something new and different for us and the community."
