It's the final comedy show of the year at The Living Room and two Vancouver-based comics will be making their Squamish debut.
Headliner Simon King and opening act John Cullen hit the stage on Friday (Nov. 22) with a show time set for 9:30 p.m. Squamish comic Kelly Dyer is again scheduled to be the host.
King is known as one of the busiest local comics, as he tours extensively and often averages more than 400 shows a year. He's appeared at such festivals as the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, the TBS Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and Just For Laughs in Montreal. He's also appeared at the Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver comedy festivals.
He recorded a full-length album titled Unfamous in 2010 and also has a number of television credits on the Comedy Network and CTV.
Cullen has been on the scene since 2010 when he earned runner-up placing at the People's Champ Comedy Competition in Vancouver. Since then, he's signed with Yuk Yuk's and has toured across Canada.
A competitive curler, Cullen has competed at the 小蓝视频 Provincials four times and has been ranked in the top 25 on the World Curling Tour money list. In that spirit, Cullen has gone on to create a popular web series called Cullen and a Curler where he interviews curlers.
He's also involved in the local music scene and works on call as an English teacher.
It's the fifth local comedy show and all four previous shows have sold out. Dyer told The Chief that he hopes to run monthly comedy shows at The Living Room in 2014.
Tickets for the show are $12 and are available at the door starting at 7:30 p.m. For more information on King and Cullen, visit www.thisissimonking.com and www.cullenthecomic.com.
