Comedy series celebrates birthday

One-year anniversary of local shows features Vancouver's Sunee Dhaliwal

The one-year anniversary of comedy at The Living Room is fast approaching and the partnership between Squamish comedian Kelly Dyer and the local restaurant/lounge will be celebrated next Thursday (March 27).

It all started on March 15, 2013, with Dyer's first local show. Several chuckles later, the performances are still going.

"The town's stoked on these shows and so am I," Dyer told The Chief in an email.

The latest show is headlined by Vancouver native Sunee Dhaliwal, who is considered one of the fastest-rising young stars on the Canadian comedy scene. Dhaliwal has performed at the Just for Laughs festival, MTV and recently recorded his own Comedy Now special to be aired on CTV.

Opening for Dhaliwal will be Vancouver comic James Kennedy, who recently came off a series of opening for American comic Bobby Lee at the recent Northwest Comedy Fest at Yuk Yuk's in Vancouver.

Dyer is the host of the event and showtime is set for 8 p.m, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $12.
