There seems to be a new technique in naming films with ridiculously stupid yet entirely accurate titles (I'm looking at you, Snakes on a Plane). When you see something like this, hopes immediately go up, but you know deep down that it's probably wrong to expect anything but ridiculous crapola.

Well, let me say right now that Cowboys and Aliens yeah it's pretty bad. Happily, though, there are more than a few moments which are so bad they're good. We'll get to those, but first let's focus on the bad bad. Harrison Ford, you are darn lucky you played Han (to a lesser extent Indi), because otherwise this performance would be worthy of a proper pistol whipping.

That is pretty much the problem with the movie right there. The cast is freakishly awesome at every turn. It's a who's who of Western professionals with talent oozing out. But at its core, this film was made by a manboy who had a cowboys and Indians set and thought how keen it would be to blow the whole lot of them up with aliens which I admit is pretty cool, but sadly, what has been produced is simply Cowboys, Aliens and nothing else. No plot (or side plot) worth mentioning and I suppose one cool thing is they actually cast an Indian to play an Indian. Don't get me started on Twilight.

The only good thing is that many of the dialogue and action scenes are laughably horrible. Because of that, have no fear that Cowboys and Aliens will eventually find its rightful DVD placement in drunken frat houses across this great land.
