It's that time of year again.
The sun makes longer stays, the forest sheds the grey of winter and students from Quest University begin the final preparations for the annual Dancing Bear Music Festival.
Scheduled for Saturday (April 13), Dancing Bear 2013 will feature performances by The Funk Hunters, Sweatshop Union, Shook Twins, Another Ghost, Richard Garvey, Tangerine, as well as student bands Aaron Feicht and Broke and Bright.
This year's committee aimed to keep variety a key ingredient in their band selection this year.
"There will be a little something for everybody come April 13," said Aaron Feicht, one of the event's organizers. "From upbeat hip-hop and electronic, to folk and indie rock, we hope to create a dynamic atmosphere of shifting genres."
It would be a mistake to say that music is the only thing Dancing Bear has to offer. Throughout the day there will be various vendors and a number of stations, including a play area for kids. In addition, a beer garden will be available for those who want to enjoy the day to its fullest. For those impartial to beer and merchandise, festival goers are encouraged to make use of the lush lawn tying the grounds together.
"An amazing and dedicated group of people has constructed year's festival," Feicht said. "We hope all who attend walk away with skip in their step, and a smile on their lips."
Doors officially open at 1 p.m., beginning with student musicians and the opening of the beer garden. The festival is scheduled to end around 11 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door, $20 for adults, $10 for students and children.
