While I disapprove of judging a book by its cover, I do enjoy when a film's title throws caution to the wind and just spells it out.
Well here we have a film that can join the ranks of Ninja Assassin, and Snakes on a Plane because when you think Hot Tub Time Machine you are absolutely correct.
What we have here is an '80s flashback ski movie - with a time machine twist.
Basically it's the Old School recipe of reuniting a bunch of guys at the place where they left their better days behind them.
In this case it's three friends deciding to re-visit their old ski resort stomping grounds. When they arrive, they find the town practically deserted.
But hang on, the hotel is still there and their room has a wait for it hot tub time machine that zaps them back to the hyper-neon ski resort '80s.
The movie is actually pretty funny. The cast has chemistry, and it never hurts to have John quintessential '80s guy Cusack at the helm.
If we're going to talk performance though, the scene-stealing highlight has to go to Crispin Glover. It's so great to see him work and, as the kids are fond of saying these days, dude nailed it.
The only downside of this film is that often the humor leans a little too heavily on the poop side for my liking. That said, it is definitely a decent brainless comedy perfect for those hungover rainy Sunday afternoons.
