A Brackendale resident's televised business pitch to a high-profile panel of "dragons" is set to hit the small screen next week.
Dougie Luv, founder of DougieDog, which sells "gourmet" hot dogs, custom butterscotch root beer and other food from its location on Vancouver's Granville Street, is set to appear on C小蓝视频 television's Dragon's Den on Wednesday (Jan. 25) at 8 p.m.
Luv, who also recently launched a mobile food truck that has just started to make the rounds in the Lower Mainland, said on Tuesday (Jan. 17) that the segment with the "dragons" was filmed last May in Toronto.
While he couldn't say whether his business proposal won the panelists' support, Luv said he enjoyed both the experience and the exposure.
Those who tune in on Wednesday "are going to see is me presenting to the Dragons an idea of investing in DougieDog," Luv said, adding, "My fantasy is that I would like to get into the Toronto market.
"The experience was wonderful," Luv said. "To be able to go out in front of these entrepreneurs who are all multi-multi-millionaires -out there in front of the world to tell your story - is kind of scary, but I was a stand-up comic for many years, so being in front of them, I felt pretty relaxed."
Luv said he was in front of the panel for about 40 minutes and is fully aware that only a small portion of that will actually make it to air.
"They edit it down a lot," he said. "You have no idea whether they're going to characterize you as crazy or what... I have no idea which seven to 10 minutes will be shown."
However, Luv added, "I'll have a lot of people cheering me on."
