Drag me to hell? Please do!

Director: Sam Raimi Cast: Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Dileep Rao Rated:14-A Running time: 99 minutes

Sam Raimi has been added to the list. Granted he was on the list a while ago but Drag Me to Hell reminds us just why he was given the distinction of a man who is truly a master of the horror comedy. After all, he gave the world Evil Dead (then he got some money and perfected it with Evil Dead II). He followed that up with the endlessly quotable Army of Darkness.

Sure he's taken a pause to sell his soul for a couple of Spider Man movies, but that's OK because with Drag me to Hell, we're back mining the gold. For those unfamiliar with his work you really should be warned - these movies are done this way intentionally. Yes, there are many over-the-top ridiculous scenes and yes, those people are trying to make you laugh.

The film opens with Alison Lohman as Christine Brown, a farm girl banker gunning for an assistant manager position. But that position means you have to be the bearer of bad news like "I'm taking your house."

Unfortunately she has to break that news to a crazy Gypsy woman (again with the Gypsies). That doesn't go so well an ancient curse is unleashed along with the wonderful world of Raimi's slapstick horror comedy films.

It's got it all from a hanky of death to the mouth of hell. Bring your sense of humour and bask in the ridiculous brilliance of Drag me to Hell.
