Seventeen Squamish Dance Centre dancers 鈥 ranging in age from eight to 14 鈥 are heading to Disneyland in California to participate in special events from July 7 to 9.

Some young Squamish dancers are about to get their mouse ears on in the 鈥淗appiest Place on Earth.鈥

Seventeen performers 鈥 aged eight to 14 鈥 are heading to Disneyland in California to participate in special events from July 7 to 9.

Centre dancers previously made this trip in July 2019.

Like on that excursion, on this upcoming trip, the dancers will participate in the Dance the Magic Parade down Main Street, U.S.A., with hundreds of dancers from around the globe.

On top of performing in the parade, dancers will attend a VIP party in the Disney California Adventure Park, where they will get to meet with Disney characters and hop on rides before the park opens to other guests.

鈥淭he local dancers have been working hard for months preparing for this exciting opportunity, led by the school鈥檚 director Sara Constantin,鈥 reads a release from the Squamish Dance Centre.

鈥淭he biggest effort has been learning and practising Dance The Magic鈥檚 parade choreography to Little Mermaid by Raven-Symon茅. The choreography was released in April, and between competitions and recitals, the dancers have been pushing really hard to be ready for parade day.鈥

Constantin and dance teachers Briana Milia and Sarah Smith will be chaperoning the dancers at events.

鈥淎s well as enjoying the special opportunity to spend quality time with families with group meals, pool parties, going on rides together 鈥 all the fun 鈥 it鈥檚 sure to be a blast,鈥 the release states.

The release adds that this dream trip became a reality thanks to more than a year of fundraising by all of the families.

鈥淒ance parents going on the trip have played a key role in helping make this happen; from planning extra rehearsals, sizing and ordering shoes, co-ordinating tickets, organizing SDC Disney tank tops, and so much more.鈥

The families credit Squamish businesses and locals for donating to the fundraisers.
