Wow, this is certainly something. Not since the late great Grilled Fromage has Squamish seen cheese laid this thick in a public place. Add to that the giant salty ham that is Nicolas Cage and you have an absolutely ridiculous movie that at no point takes itself seriously. As most know, Nick is hip deep in IRS trouble, hence he's taking any and every role that comes his way.

This time financial constraints have him playing the title role in Drive Angry. The plot is both subtle and nuanced ha! Sorry, no - the plot is Nick just busted out of hell to rescue his granddaughter. Time is of the essence because the kid's parents were killed by a cult leader and that leader is going to sacrifice the baby on the next full moon. Oh yeah, it's that good. Joining him is Amber Heard as the tough. leggy blonde sidekick with a muscle car. However, the key role in these violence exploitation flicks is the person representing Satan. Here we have William Fichtner nailing the role of "the accountant - basically, Satan's repo man in a suit and unsettlingly calm demeanor. Good stuff.

Lastly, I feel the need to warn people that this movie is violent. Actually, violence is the only thing in this movie. The action is violent, the dialogue is violent and the comedy relies solely on a desensitized audience that can laugh at ridiculously over-the-top cheesy violence. That is a warning to some and to others an invitation to kick back and enjoy what is sure to be another horrible Nicolas Cage late show cult classic.
