A cover band favourite returns to the Grizzly Bar and Grill Friday and Saturday June 8 and 9.

The John Scott Band performs another round of the newest rock tunes by popular artists -and this time, they'll be throwing few originals into the mix.

"We've all been in the biz for a long time and eventually got sick of the same old rehashed covers that every band does - including ones we used to do," said bandleader John Scott.

"My motto is: 'If you don't learn, you don't grow.' If you don't grow, then what's the point? So we learn more modern, fresh material than any other band and never play the same night twice. Ever."

Along with drummer Daniel Bryce and bassist Jeremy Scott, the band has been playing in 小蓝视频 for over 10 years with regular appearances in White Rock, Coquitlam and Vancouver and over a dozen shows in Squamish.

The Grizzly Bar and Grill continues to host the John Scott Band because of their talent said co-owner Carmelle Cascanette.

"They're amazing. They play such a wide range of music, from older music to songs you hear on the radio today."

The Vancouver band has house gigs across greater Vancouver, and has a solid fan base in Squamish.

Whenever they play, Cascanette said the crowd is on the dance floor "all night long."

"We have a certain following in Squamish," said Scott. "And anyone that hears us knows it's something fresher and newer than what you're used to."

Scott's eclectic musical background stretches to when he was learned the piano at age 9.

At 17 he played the flute for a Symphonic Orchestra and he has also sung for a 'big band.'

These days, the John Scott Band keeps up with a wide array of popular artists, turning radio hits into cover hits.

"We have acoustic sets with hand drums and can do many styles with finesse," said Scott, who has played with the likes of the Jeff Healey Band, Colin James Band, Trooper, Prism and Gowan.

"Really, you have to hear it to know," he added. And if the local buzz is true, this is one band you really want to hear.
