Here's an oxymoron: a good buddy cop movie

The Other Guys Director: Adam McKay Cast: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Michael Keaton Rated: PG-13 Running time: 107 minutes

I tried. I tried so hard to maintain my dislike for Will Ferrell. It's not like I ever met the guy or have any good reason, he just really bugged me on Saturday Night Live and was one of the many reasons I stopped watching the show.

Yet once again here he is in a movie that is bloody funny.

The Other Guys opens with Samuel L. Jackson and the Rock as two insanely over violent rock star cops. They are the superstars at the top and at the bottom are the pencil pushers.

People like Will Ferrell who plays the straight accountant with numerous quirks.

Beside him is Mark Wahlberg, the classic agro cop "who's sick and tired of being chained to a desk." Sure enough they find themselves in the midst of a big case and both action and jokes ensue.

It's also nice to see Michael Keaton back do doing screwball comedy. It harkens back to a simpler time when he had credibility as a comedian.

What it boils down to is The Other Guys is great buddy cop comedy. I know, it's weird even typing those words since we have had so many absolutely horrid buddy cop travesties.

I suppose that's what makes this one all the more sweeter with the entertaining action and jokes that are often unexpected which is nice.

We're getting on in the summer season and if you've been saving your summer movie dollars for a screwball Hollywood comedy, here it is, please enjoy.
