"Get ready to dance for 15 hours straight."
Squamish Equinox Rock Festival (SERF) 2011's newly released primary lineup promises festival goers just that, according to SERF president Paul Hudson.
"This year's edition of SERF will have a roots music vibe with an East Vancouver edge," said Hudson.
"We're thrilled about the lineup we've managed to put together so far for this year."
Award-winning musician Kuba Oms and burgeoning Victoria group Jon and Roy are headlining the event. Both have wowed and rocked Squamish crowds before and are more than ready to deliver again, Hudson said.
Both acts receive heavy exposure on commercial radio at The Peak FM in Vancouver and The Zone FM in Victoria while also getting significant play on national radio.
Jon and Roy recently returned from an Australian tour while Kuba Oms has been across Canada and up and down the U.S. West Coast since his most recent performance in Squamish in January.
The remaining six bands announced are popular favourites in the western Canadian festival and ski resort circuits.
The lineup includes beat boxer extraordinaire and East Vancouver's Indie guru C.R. Avery - described as a unique, raw and dynamic performer whose genius lies in many genres including blues, hip-hop, spoken word and rock and roll.
Los Furios, who performed in Squamish in January, will also take the stage and play a hybrid mix of ska, Latin, reggae and catchy southern California punk - a blend best described as Sublime and Rancid meet Fishbone with a dash of Santana added for good measure.
Other Sea to Sky favourites Blackberry Wood, Jackfruit, Red Eye Empire and Kostaman and The Good Vibrations round out the primary lineup.
This year SERF will feature 16 小蓝视频-based acts, including five DJ and electronica shows to be announced on May 9.
There are five slots left for interested local bands, who have until April 30 to apply for inclusion in the festival.
According to Hudson, SERF will be a multi-venue event. On June 25, the festival will run from 11 a.m. to midnight at Nexen Beach, but the Rock Bar and Grill at Chances Boardwalk will host the DJ and electronic after party from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Festival tickets will cover both venues and tickets go on sale April 15 at squamishmusicfestival.com/pages/tickets.php. Advance tickets are $25 and day-of-event tickets are $35.
