Heavy metal is coming to the Cliffside Pub and Squamish residents are invited for what should be a head-banging good time.
Two bands, comprised of all local talent, are getting ready to take over the pub on Wednesday (Oct. 5) for close to three hours of metal music. It's the first show of its kind in the history of the Cliffside and both bands hope to make it a memorable night.
The headliner, Hoopsnake, is made up of Squamish residents and recently returned from a Canadian tour that spanned most of the summer. The group considers itself "doom metal," which is typically known as a style of heavy metal with slower tempos, lower-tuned guitars and a heavier sound than traditional heavy metal.
Also appearing on the show is Victoria band Harrow. The group's members are all originally from Squamish and it should be a homecoming of sorts for the band, which considers its music to be "black metal," featuring faster tempos, louder vocals and distorted guitars.
The show is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, lasting until approximately 11:30 p.m. Cover charge for the show is $5.
