Lunch-hour concert series set

McPhee, Purdie and Koop to perform in support of AME fund

Three talented local musicians will perform at a lunch-hour mini-concert next week in downtown Squamish in support of music education.

Soprano vocalist Veronica McPhee, tenor Aaron Purdie and accompanist Colleen Koop will present a 30-minute concert on Wednesday (April 4) at noon at the Squamish Academy of Music on Second Avenue to kick off the Lunch-Hour Concert Series. All three are members of the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association (HSPAA) executive.

Next week's performance is the first of three being staged in support of the HSPAA's Access Music Education (AME) fund, which provides financial assistance to Squamish students in Grades K through 12 who wish to pursue studies in performing arts.

Admission is by donation with proceeds to the AME fund. Future concerts in the series are planned on May 2 with vocalists Kelly Coubrough and Melissa Braun and accompanist Erik Musseau, and June 6 with songwriter and jazz pianist Mary Kastle.

For information contact the Squamish Academy of Music at (604) 815-4482 or [email protected]. To find out more about AME, visit www.howesoundarts.ca.
