Michael, Stanton to headline comedy show

First comedy show of 2014 returns to The Living Room

The laughs are back for 2014 at The Living Room.

Co-headliners Darcy Michael and Jane Stanton will make their Squamish debuts, with local comedian Kelly Dyer again serving as the host next Thursday (Jan. 23).

According to Dyer, Michael is one of the fastest-rising comics in Canada and coming off a big 2013.

"He's definitely the freshest star we have had on in Squamish," Dyer said.

Michael has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and filmed a nationally aired stand-up special for CTV and the Comedy Network in 2010.

He's also set to appear in a new multi-cam sitcom alongside The Kids in the Hall star Dave Foley, entitled Spun Out. The show is set to debut on CTV later this year. He also released a comedy album online called One Skinny Bitch, the title of which was inspired by his 120-pound weight loss.

Stanton, a veteran comic from the Vancouver scene, will make her first appearance in Squamish and brings an act that has cracked up audiences all across Canada. She won Vancouver's funniest comic in 2006 and has appeared on C小蓝视频 Radio, Urban Rush and the Global Comedy Fest.

Doors open for the event at 6 p.m., with comedians hitting the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 and are available at the door.
