McClurg’s shots on display at Squamish Adventure Centre
BY Leigh McClurg
Leigh McClurg’s work is on display at the Squamish Adventure Centre until the end of June.

The fine-art photography of Squamish’s Leigh McClurg is featured as the Visuals display until the end of June at the Squamish Adventure Centre.

The exhibit, titled, “Deliberate and Extraordinary: The Mountains of British Columbia,” features four of McClurg’s most stunning shots of the province’s spectacular peaks.

Originally from a small town in County Dublin, Ireland, McClurg moved to Squamish in 2010 to live a life more deliberate and search for the extraordinary over the comfortable and ordinary, organizers with Visuals: The Squamish Valley Artists’ Society, said in a statement.

“His photography started with a simple wish to visually chronicle his excursions into nature and the wild, and grew into a desire to capture not only what he saw there, but how he felt while immersed in the natural world.

“He hopes, through his photography, that a viewer will understand the answer to the question of ‘Why?’ he goes there and why they should also.”

Each of the landscapes pictured hold special meaning to McClurg and he hopes he has been successful in imbuing the viewer with the sense of wonder and awe that he felt while being there.
