The Vancouver: On The Coast regional finals in the CСÀ¶ÊÓƵ Searchlight contest has a distinct Squamish flavour.

Squamish band Dentville and Lovecoast – fronted by Squamish’s Danielle Sweeney are in the final 10 for the search, which looks for Canada’s best new artist.

The winner from each region then gets checked out by a panel of celebrity judges , who will then pick the winner. The winning band receives $20,000 worth of music equipment and a spot on a high profile music showcase.

Dentville is comprised of Squamish residents Darcy Cavanah, Nadine McNeil, Darrell Booth, Chris Robertson and Mike Hewitt and play a southern rock/country fusion style of music.

Lovecoast formed in 2013 and have performed at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival, the Tall Tree Music Festival and all across Western Canada. They play a West Coast R&B/Soul Jazz Pop style and Squamish’s Sweeney is the singer and songwriter for the group.

Both groups are looking for votes from Squamish residents and can do so by visiting www.music.cbc.ca/#!/artists/Lovecoast and www.music.cbc.ca/#!/artists/Dentville.
