The Pemberton Music Festival is expanding to include two extra days of musical madness. Last week, festival organizers announced the Spud Valley event is adding Wednesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 17, to the mix, making it a four-day festival running until Sunday, July 20. 听
On July 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the Whistler Olympic Plaza, event organizers will host a free concert featuring Gord Downie, The Sadies, Matt Mays and Dan Deacon.听Festival-campers can get a shuttle to Pemberton from Whistler to take advantage of early entry camping, which opens at 2 p.m. the same day.听
On Thursday, July 17, the same assortment of bands roll into the听Pemberton听Music Festival site. Downie, The Sadies, Mays and Deacon will perform again, this time joined by other artists to create a five-hour show.听听
鈥淲e are so excited to be able to bring these incredible artists to Whistler a couple of days early for a free concert on July 16 as a thank you to the community that has helped us make听Pemberton听Music Festival possible this year,鈥 A.J. Niland, Huka Entertainment co-founder, stated in a press release.听听鈥淎nd Thursday鈥檚 concert at our festival site will be an epic gift for all of those who want to get to听Pemberton听early, avoid traffic, and enjoy an additional day of music in one of the most beautiful environments imaginable.鈥
Pemberton Music Festival organizers unveiled their long-anticipated lineup last month. Headliners include names like industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, newly reunited hip hop duo Outkast and heavyweight rapper Kendrick Lamar. They have more than 100 music and comedy performers scheduled.
