Predictable for better or for worse

Red Director: Robert Schwentke Cast: Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban Rated: PG-13 Running time: 111 minutes

The story of Red is taken from a graphic novel and for the most part it is a success.

The story involves a retired CIA agent (played by Bruce Willis) trying to go back to ordinary life.

Of course his past comes catching up and he gets the old gang back to clear their names.

This all-star cast includes Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren and Brian Cox.

Willis plays the main agent and let's be serious, this guy hasn't shown up for a film in years and this one is no different.

Oh look he's smirking - wait maybe he's like a baby and he just let one rip.

Who knows or really cares? At this point as long as he kills a bunch of people and mumbles a funny line or two, it seems that's all anyone expects of him anymore.

The best part about this film is the rest of this cast who look like they're having an absolute hoot playing a bunch of old people kicking ass.

Highlights are Helen Mirren in a gown and a 50-caliber machine gun. And any film that allows John Malkovich to act like a crazy person is worth it - all the better if he has access to guns.

The only weak link is Mary-Louise Parker of Weeds fame. Her acting is fine but she's playing the stupid female role and that role always ticks me off.

While there are times when this film isn't sure if it's an action film or a retiree comedy, in the end it doesn't take itself too seriously and provides some good escape for 111 minutes.
