Quest University is ready to take on an artsy new look this fall.
The independent, not-for-profit secular university is inviting applications for its new artist-in-residence program. The short-term positions are open to artist in any discipline, including visual and dramatic arts, creative writing, dance and music.
"Expanding our offerings in the arts through this new program is part of our continuing effort to develop the full potential of all our students," Quest president David Helfand said in a statement.
The artists will stay at the university for six to 12 weeks between September and April, teaching one or two courses. The remainder of the time will be spent supporting the artists' and students' work, Helfand noted. That may include open studio sessions, performances and exhibits.
"It's also another way of connecting with the Sea to Sky community," Helfand said.
Quest welcomes artists who are keen to work intensively with students with wide-ranging academic interests. The university will offer successful applicants tutor status, accommodation and compensation for the entire residence period.
Artists should send their r茅sum茅s, a statement of artistic and teaching philosophies, including a description of potential course and digital files or links to recent artistic work to [email protected].
Applicants are asked to incorporate a preference of one or two courses, as well as dates available.
All Quest classes have a maximum of 20 students and take place in a "block plan," in which students take one course at a time over 3 weeks. They meet a minimum of three hours a day. Artists would have to be able to work within that configuration, officials said.
